Placeshifter via Proxy Server

I would like to be able to access Sage files from work. We use a proxy server to gain access to the outside world. Is there any way to accomplish this?

Sorry Mango. It doesn't work with proxy servers currently.

Actually, it is possible. Someone just emailed me telling me how they did it.

They used ProxyCap from proxylabs to set it up. So while it's not integrated; it's still doable. I'd say give it a shot.

I tried this, and can't get ProxyCap to work... it doesn't seem like it does anything. I verified Placeshifter works when not behind the firewall.

Anyone have experience using ProxyCap? I would appreciate a little help (you can pm me if you don't want to post).

I am also looking for a working solution to allow placeshifter client to use a proxy server. There are a lot of remote places I go to that only provide a proxy server. Could somebody please tell me how to do this?

EDIT: Opps... nevermind, proxycap looks very straightforward. I guess its either going to work or not

Thanks,
Michael

I have it working:

1. Open the preferences page.
2. Click on the little square box - to create a New Proxy Server.
3. Enter the Address of your Company Proxy Server and Port, Select HTTPS as the type.
4. Go to the Rules section.
5. Click on the little square box again to Create a New Rule.
6. Select the Rule type: Tunnel through proxy.
7. Select the Proxy (the one you just created) to Tunnel.
8. Specify SageTVPlaceshifter as the Program to Tunnel by browsing to c:\program files\SageTV\Placeshifter.
9. Enter you home's IP Address - this is the IP address of where your SageTV Server resides.
10. Enter the Destination Port: 31099.

That should be it. This worked for me and allows me to connect Placeshifter
