Any software for the Buffalo LinkTheater

After weeks of complaining about SageTV & MediaMVP, I finally bought a Buffalo LinkTheater which uses WizdXP as its server. Finally, I have something that will play ISO, IMG, and VOB files. Too bad SageTV didn't come up with this earlier. I'm not interested in PlaceShifter or other feature of that sort, I just wanted a simple media server & repository.

Buffalo Link Theater High-Definition

Is the one that you tried the PC-P3LWG/DVD version? This is the new High Definition one. We are going to be testing it soon to work as the TV connections for a main housewide media server. I'd be interested to know how you like it?

Like it, I love it, and yes I do have the PC-P3LWG/DVD version. It does have a wireless antennae built in, but I do not recommend using wireless, because .... ah, its wireless; with all the wireless problems. I tried wireless, but then switched to wired network and haven't been happier since. With the WIZD server software, you can customize or whatever since the WIZD sourcecode is public. Frankly, I'm surprised WIZD is free, I'd gladly pay the same price as SageTV. With WIZD, there is no other software out there that plays .ISO, .IMG, complete .VOBs, DIVX, .AVI. The cool thing about the PC-P3LWG/DVD is it has a local DVD player and I can use it whenever I decide to go HDTV.

I would ensure you have a Gigabit switch with no less than 8-ports and all 100MB network connections. If your computer has a SATA harddrive then you may want to use a 1000MB network connection. Either way, the PCI network cards are relatively inexpensive.
