Good point. I should have the default background only be displayed if it is explicitly specified. I'll make the change and send it to Dirk to hopefully be included in the next update. Thanks.

Hey folks, I like the fact that in the default (Non-SageMC) with ComSkip installed, I'm able to see an icon in the TV recordings list that lets me know whether ComSkip data is available for the recording.

I've dug through various themes and tried to figure out how to display this in SageMC, but am not having much luck. Any ideas?

I have the same problem. Changing this setting didn't fix it either. None of the images show up...

Also, the options don't seem to allow me to add/remove/change images...but I'm not sure if that's supposed to be an option.

I looked in my settings, and this is what is there by default. Strange there aren't as many images as titles?

Selection bars

Hello,

I tried to update smc from version 6.3.4a to 6.3.5, but I get no selection-bars anymore. No bars at all. If I count the steps then I can go to the right menu, but again no selection bars at all.

When loading the old version, all is well again.

Am I doing something wrong? I used the Full install.

Emile

Hey Dirk, just wanted to say thanks for this great import & all the work and support you're putting in. SageMC is an awesome piece of work.

Couldn't agree more. For me SageMC made Sage usable in the first place. It's come on leaps and bounds since under you and now goes well beyond my initial expectations in terms of features and configurablity.

I agree. mlbdude did a wonderful job getting this thing going, and off it's feet, but I have to admit, there have been a lot of very nice improvements over the last several months since Dirk has taken it over. One of my favorite, has been the SageMC Options menu. For those of you that haven't been around for a while, you used to have to configure all these options within the properties file, which while effective, was not that straight forward. You also had to shut Sage down while making those changes.

Thanks for making Sage more than what it is stock!

Absolutely. The default UI is (IMO) crap. SageMC is what the default UI always should have been.

I think a lot of reviewers would be much more at home if SageMC had been what they experienced instead of the default UI.

Thanks,
Mike

can't see your photos after going up to 6.3.5?

Remember to go back and load the STV! I'd installed the video tools stvi. 6.3.5 ahd installed over my old 6.3.3c and hadn't actually loaded it!

Is there a faster way of browsing through the music library? Under artist or album view (i have about 250 artists...maybe 550 albums) its really slugish....only being able to rapidly scroll between about 15 items while in list or icon view before it hourglasses and has to load the rest one at a time. loading takes about 1 second per artist/album....not a whole lot but it would be nice to scroll all down my collection fairly rapidly.

When scrollng through my 150 or so photo folders it is very fast...although I wish there was a list view for photo albums. Any chance thats in the works?

I have about 7000 songs with perfect id3v2 tags (and only id3v2) with album art embedded in each file.

computer is a p4 3ghz with 512mb ddr. radeon 9600. i have the latest sage/sagemc/java 1.6

Thanks for any help.

oh, btw. I am a former meedio user that has been out of the htpc scene for about 3 years. I tried mediaportal but it was very unorganized and buggy...with no options to change the main menu features. I also tried beyond media for about 20 minutes and uninstalled....

SageTV (with SageMC) is by far the most customizable and best working htpc frontend available.

Do you have the sort option set to "By Time" by any chance ? This is by far the slowest method. Also, do you see any difference in the default STV ?

Did you try the default theme ? If you enable debug logging, do you see any errors in the log ?

No icons, just the comkip time bar in the Program Info screen ('Info' button)

Thanks for responding!

Currently the main music menu is organized by Artist (in list view alphabetically) then when you click on artist its has a folder view for each album organized by year released.
Do you know how it caches the album artwork? Im thinking it may be slow because of that...some of the artwork I have embedded is around 500x500 (unless itunes resized is smaller before writing the id3.
I can scroll down through about 15 or so artists before it slows to a crawl then i'll wait for it to load a few more and try to scroll up through the artists I just past and it will again quickly scroll through about 15 of them before it has to rethink and again slow down to start displaying those artists again.

Standard SageTV is just as sluggish for me so Its not something directly related to SageMC.
Defragmenting my storage drive seemed to help a bit but its still nowhere near as fast as scrolling through my photo albums.

Hi there,

I'm using Sage 6.2 + SageMC 6.3.5. I recently changed to using the mp4 compression (ipod high quality), and since then I've noticed that my comskip files aren't being read by SageMC. For my AVI files, the commercial skipping works just fine. Is there something about mp4s that they won't work with commercial skipping? Or should this work and there's really a different problem underlying this?

thanks

What's the extension on the files? I pretty sure skipping is only setup for mpg, ts and avi.

I agree! Thanks for making a full alternitive for the sage UI. When 6.2 was released, I tried to give the stock UI a go but just couldn't do it.

Thanks!

-two thumbs up
