Radio in SageMC

Is there a SageMC-compatible WebRadio (or other name) player that doesn't require constant updating of IPs? Just when I get WebRadio all set up and running with stations the kida and I like ... half of them don't work again the next time we try them out.

Anyone have anything that can stream right from radio sites? Or something? (I know just enough to be dangerous, but not enough to describe this as well as I wish. Hopefully someone "gets" what I mean.)

Heidi, even with the most advanced Internet Radio for SageTV... Slim Player, you still have to update your favorites list when their IP's change. That's why it's a good idea to use big/popular Internet Radio websites which can afford to have a static IP ...not the sites that are run out of people's basements

You "could" use Slim Player's ability to browse through live radio stations, but it's a bit cumbersome to use that feature at this time since it's burried deep in the menus. Also, as far as I know, Slim Player isnt even available for SageMC yet.

I hope this helps.

I was hoping to be able to go to the web streaming feeds of real radio stations. My local NPR station, local sports talk, etc. Is this possible?

Yes, it is possible. In Slim Player, you can browse Internet radio station by City. I added some of our local radio stations in San Francisco; including NPR and a couple of other popular stations. You also have radio stations available to you from Sirius Radio and XM (if you're youre a subscriber).

However... the current release of Slim Player is a bit of a mess as far as menu navigation goes. The creator of this addon promses to fix the convoluted menus with the next release of Slim Player. Once that's fixed, I'm sure you will also see a SageMC version Slim Player as well.

Excellent! I'll just have to wait and see, then.
