Missing Videos in Video folder (SageMC)

I have set my video folder til E:\Videos and imported videos several times. However, when I go to Videos from the SageMC menu, I can only find one folder called [Unassigned] and no videos. In the [Unassigned] I can find my videos together with all my partial recordings etc.

How do I change this so that I can see my videos in the Video menu??

I have attached my sage.properties to this thread if this could help...

Change your view style from 'Groups' to 'Filesystem' (first button on the left hand side). You haven't defined or assigned any groups yet, that's why everything is showing up in the 'Unassigned' folder

So, I will have to define "groups" - how is this done, and how will I have to define groups that will allow Sage to show all .avi files in the E:\Videos directory?

My problem is, if I push the button to show the Filesystem, is only shows the 'Unassigned' folder (not the avi's placed in e:\videos). The Unassigned folder contains my .avi's but also a bunch of partial recordings...which makes it practically useless...

It's the same after I do a rescan of the import folders :-(

Maybee it is a bug? As I can see from the sage.properties, it should work:

seeker/archive_directory=E\:\\Documents\\My Music,2;E\:\\Documents\\My Pictures,4;E\:\\Videos,1;

seeker/video_library_import_filename_extensions=.mpg,.mpeg,.mp2,.mpeg2,.mpe,.avi,.divx,.mpg1,.ts,.wmv,.asf,.wm,.tivo,.m2t,.vob,.flv,.mp4,.mov,.trp,.m4v,.ogm

Yep, exactly what jds said... When you select 'File System' you shouldn't see any 'Unassigned' folder (unless you have physically created an 'Unassigned' folder on your hard drive). Regarding the thread you referenced, since you have been mentioning 'Videos' in your posts I was assuming that you have more than one video file in E:\Videos. If you indeed have only one video in there, then you won't see the 'Video' directory in Filesystem mode, but just the one video directly. In this case it will help to copy another video file into the directory, do a rescan, and the 'Video' folder will show up.

Ok - Figured it out...I was the one to blame... I set the SageTV up to use E:\videos, but this apparently only changed the service, and I had to change the client properties file to E:\Videos and it worked... Strange however, that the music and pictures folders works fine as they have the location specified in the service properties file and a completely different one in the clien properties file....

But thanks for all your help.

I am having this exact same issue. The seeker/archive_directory setting is the same on both sage and sageclient properties files. When I switch back to sagetv3 skin I see the videos in their filesystem folders; but with sagemc (6.3.7) everything is under "[unassigned]" in the filesystem view...

I have hundreds of home videos organized in folders and seeing everything in the root under an unassigned folder is very difficult to use. Also, most of these files are on a network share. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks.

Anybody have any suggestions at all? This is the one blight on an otherwise fantastic system.

Thanks.

Final update on this - the Filesystem view feature has miraculously started working! I'm not sure how; the only thing I did different recently was to leave SageTV client and Service off overnight while while I experimented with Mediaportal.

Today I switched back to SageTV and lo and behold the filesystem view is working! Cheers to all!
