6.1.3 video playback exception

I am running 6.1.3 right now, but this problem was also present in previous version 6. I did not notice the problem in 5.

I am using the purevideo decoders in the 3D acceleration mode (vmr9 or whatever it is). I have an ATI 9800Pro. Both the nVidia PureVideo and ATI drivers are the newest available. My Java is version 1.6 (not sure the point release, but it is from January or so. It's not beta.)

I leave Sage running on my PC all the time. My computer is set to go into standby when it isn't needed. When I am finished with Sage, sometimes I hit stop, and sometimes I put Sage in standby. The problem happens for both of these.

Sometimes when I try to play a recording after Sage has been sitting for a while (while I'm at work or over night) I get an error that says there was a playback exception and the video will not play.

If I switch the video renderer to "Default" and then play the video, it works. Also, if I then switch it back to VMR9 (or whatever) it also plays fine. I just have to play something in Default for a couple of seconds and then everything works again.

What gives? This only happens sometimes - I'd guess two or three times a week. Anyone else have this problem or know what I might try?
