Running service and GUI on "server"

Hi all.
I have a machine set up that is going to be my sagetv server, but I also am going to watch programs on the machine.

It seems that if I run the the service to automatically start up, if I go to launch the GUI it wants to go through the whole configuration again.

If I stop the service and let the application launch it, it lets me back to the menu.

Is there a way to start the service automatically, but still be able to watch tv on the machine?
Thanks a lot!

If the service if running, then the GUI starts up as a psuedo-client and its configurtation is saved as sageclient.properties. You shoul only need to do the confguration for the client once. So, go ahead and run through the wizard.

With the service stopped, then the GUI runs under teh sage.properties configuration.

Yup, set the service to auto-start, and then let the psuedo-client's GUI run its wizard. You should be set after that.

It's not going to go through the whole configuration (video sources and such), just the parts relevant to the UI component, and it's only going to do it once. If it really bugs you, you can in principle copy the relevant settings from Sage.properties to SageClient.properties, but really, it's easier to just let the wizard do its thing.

Oh Ok cool.
Not a big deal at all, I'll just run through the configuration again.

Thanks a lot for the info!

Ok went through the setup on the psudo-client and it seems to be working fine.
It takes longer to start up as it's trying to run the service, that is already running.

Is there a way to run it in client mode (some sort of switch) so it won't try to load the service?

Thanks all!
