6.1.4: SageTV, Vista, & MVP work perfectly but only WITHOUT SageTV Service running!

I've just done a fresh install of Vista Ultimate and SageTV 6.1.4. Previously, I've struggled to get my MVP working properly with Vista and SageTV.

Now here's the bizarre thing...

When the SageTV Service is running, my MVP cannot locate a GUI server. I cannot get any further than this.

BUT... When the SageTV Service is *NOT* running, but with the normal SageTV application window running (either open or minimised to tray) my MVP detects a GUI server, boots, and then SageTV works perfectly.

If I load the SageTV Service at any time, it breaks the MVP connection.

The above behaviour is the same, even with all Vista security features (Defender, firewall, UAC, etc.) switched off.

6.1.4 is different to 6.1.3 and 6.0.19 in that the MVP can connect every time, whereas in the previous versions it was hit or miss.

I guess the main reason for starting this thread (other than sharing my bizarre problem with you all!) is to ask when SageTV will get official support for Vista and the MVP. Does anybody know?

In Windows Task Manager, I've noticed that the memory usage for SageTV is roughly the same as it was for the SageTV Service when I was running XP SP2. So for the time being, having SageTV minimised (and hidden) in the system tray is a reasonable workaround to using the SageTV Service with my MVP.
