Angry HAVA HD Wireless problem

I have HAVA HD Wireless ( http://www.snappymultimedia.com/prod...cification.htm ).

in documentation clearly written that "Driver on the PC represents the HAVA device as "Virtual" WDM TV Tuner device, fully compatible with
Windows Media Center"

SageTV found the 2 devices "Hava Video Device" and "Hava Remote Video Device" as Hava has 2 mode of works 1 - local network, 2 - via internet.

When I choice Hava Video Device , and select s-video input. I got error in 15 seconds "There was a Playback Error in playback. Details: asge.PlaybackException: ERROR (-4,0x80004005): There was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback" message box?

Please advice.

"HD" and "Wireless" don't really lead to a stable solution for capturing HD content.

That device is unsupported.

I connect device by wire to my network.

I think the 2nd part of his reply was the most important part, that device is unsupported at the moment.

You might want to try skipping the video preview part of the install, and seeing if it works under Sage after you get it set up. Sometimes the video preview won't work on certain cards, but they work fine in the system once set up.

Red face

I can't find any other capture card for HDTV via component cable.
Beyong TV works fine with HAVA. Sage Team please fix the issue.

Officially supported aside, what you are describing is generally associated with your video decoder selection. Which decoders do you have installed aside from SageTV for MPG2 playback? Also, looking at the specs on the HAVA, you do realize that you won't be capturing anything above D1 resolution. Your component connection if it is HD source will not be delivering HD resolution although it may look very good.

Just joining this thread as I am reviewing the HAVA Wireless unit for Monsoon...

Yes, the HAVA unit shows in Sage as two seperate devices under Sage... Use the non-remote device (as listed under Sage...) for playback.... The error described is that of the playback decoder 'components' rather than the capture device.

While it is true that the HAVA will accept component input (HD Source...), it will not record as such... As BC stated, it won't capture above generally accepted SD resolutions... It is a limitation of the HAVA as opposed to Sage.

As an aside, for those for you with the HAVA unit, has anyone else experienced Sage being slow to 'release' the capture unit (either stopping playback or changing to another capture device when viewing live streams...) during their use?

I get the dreaded 'spinning cirlcle' effect (as lovingly called by my children...) when the HAVA unit is the current capture device and then the stream is stopped... Sage will finally return to 'normal', but it can take 'quite awhile'... Sometimes up to 20 minutes...

I will be submitting my logs to the team for viewing...

I would first try to see if it is a playback or recording issue. Keep going with the setup and install a channel lineup. Can you use the tuner after installation-sometimes the preview screen doesn't work right. Try doing a recording. Will it record? Does it create a recorded file? Can you open the recorded file in another program/

Sorry for the misunderstanding... The HAVA tuner is installed in Sage... it works... Sage, however take quite some time to 'release' the tuner after it has been used for any live tv function.... Sage will exhibit the spinning cirlce for up to 20 minutes or so. It will finally release the device and everything will function normally, but my entire PVR is rendered unusable until it does so.

Sorry-my comments were directed to the original poster. I'm curious what the video quality is like for you though. Are you using component capture? How does it look?

No... I'm too darn cheap to go for an HD signal...

I'm using an analog signal via RF (right now...) for the HAVA. I am utilizing it right now via the RF for the initial testing... I want to avoid re-arranging the exisiting tuners until I can see that everything will work fine.

My other three tuners are via Dish, so I would have to change the USB-UIRT for that (albeit slightly...).

So far, the signal look fine... for an SD derived one. I'm liking the hardware assisted placeshifting capabilities on my Treo... too bad it does not integrate with Sage.
