Linux support for Plextor M402U

Hello,
I'm new to both Linux and your forum, I have been using MEPIS Linux for about a month now and so far am very impressed with Linux in general, I have a Plextor M402U USB capture box, there is a Linux driver available for it and I was wondering if SageTV would support it in Linux (it already does in Windows). Secondly if Sage TV will support USB capture devices in general. Myth TV will support the Plextor device but it seems to be a nightmare to set up (especially coming from a Windows background). At this early stage of the game I would be willing to switch to Gentoo for the Sage TV functionality although I am getting used to MEPIS. Any advice or guidance would be very much appreciated.

PS: Kudos to Sage TV for this bold and long awaited and needed step into TV Capture for Linux!!

The Plextor M402U is not supported because its drivers don't follow the same standards for compressed media output.

The hauppauge usb pvr unit might work with the latest version but I haven't tested it. I think it would need a more recent kernel than the install script uses.
