Exclamation Favorite Priority Recording Anomalies

I've just encountered a situation where a conflict occurred between two programs.

Program A was higher priority in the Favorites. Program B was lower.

Instead of recording Program A, SageTV recorded Program B. I would expect the proper behavior would be to record Program A since it is higher on the Favorites priority list.

How/Why is this happening?

Another question, when handling conflicts, is additional air times being considered? It would be GREAT if SageTV considered whether or not programs had multiple airings. Using the above example, if Program B had no additional airings, but Program A did have additional airings, Program B would be recorded, even though it was lower priority.

Obviously, the ideal is to record as many of the requested programs as possible.

Thoughts?

Regards,
Rob

In my experience, additional air times do affect the recording priorities; did you verify that program A was not available at a later date?

Not if B doesn't air again and would be missed if it weren't recorded now.

This is what it is already designed to do.

See this FAQ -- if A isn't already watched or recorded, it probably scheduled it to record a later airing of A.

Favorite priority says nothing about the order in which programs get recorded. The point of priority is to tell Sage which programs you can live without in case of conflict. Beyond that, Sage will schedule them in whatever order allows it to minimize missed favorites.

Thanks, Andy, but Program A was a one-time only airing. There was no airing of that episode again in the 14-day lookahead period.

If it is a one-time airing for a Favorite & it was not scheduled to record, there should have been a conflict generated -- either an unresolved one or a one that was resolved based on previous conflict handling. Without knowing the full schedule & so on, I can't say for sure what happened.

Thanks, Andy! There was a conflict that wasn't resolved, but I thought it would record the higher priority favorite since it was a single airing. It's weird.
