MVP Configuration

I am still trying to get the Google/YouTube videos to work with my media extender. I did an install of the latest 6.0 trial version on my laptop(no PVR card installed) and enable the option for the extender. The extender seems to works ok ... I can see all the menus and I can view photos just fine. I can not decode any audio nor can I play any of the online videos

How can I configure the MVP to decode audio and play the online Google/YouTube videos. Must I have a PVR card installed to get these features to work on the extender?

Please help!!

You should not need the tuner card. How are the laptop and MVP connected?

The laptop and MVP are connected via a router. I forward port 31099 to my laptop when I want to use the MVP. The same MVP is used for my Sage 5.xxx install on my desktop and the MVP works fine. MVP connections between the laptop and the desktop work flawless ... wherever I forward the port 31099 (Desktop or Laptop) the desired connection is always made.

The only problem is the decoding of the audio and video when the laptop is being used as a server ......

Sorry, but I am confused. Are you trying to use the laptop or the desktop as a server for the MVP, or both? How are you switching between the 6.x version running on the laptop and the 5.x version running on the desktop? Why are you port forwarding?

The MVP can only handle MPEG (video and audio) so anything else must be transcoded by the server. Maybe the laptop isn't powerful enough to transcode the Google and YouTube content.

Got it Working!!!!!

I loaded the Hauppauge MVP software on my laptop ... Now Sage 6.xxx works just fine on the mvp. I can now view the Google/YouTube videos as well as play the audio files without any problems on the MVP.

I Don't know why ... but it now works.
I was initially able to view the online videos on my laptop(server 6.xxx) prior to loading the Hauppauge software, but they just would not play on the MVP

Only 1 server is being used at a time. I simply stop one and start the other ... then fire up the MVP. The MVP always seem to find the server

For testing I am using the 6.xxx server installed on the laptop

Thanks for all your help!!

(Port forwarding was for the placeshifter)
