Why does Live TV Freeze after end of each show?

While watching Live TV the video and audio "freezes" at the end of each show. I have to press "stop", then "stop" again, then select what I want to watch from guide to get TV to run again. This is aggrivating and cause me to miss the begining of some shows.

I've spent the past few months trying to change settings to stop this but no luck. I've uninstalled and re-installed SageTV and SageMC a number of times, even so far as deleting all files and starting over.

This may have started when I installed DirMon2 and ShowAnalyser some time back to set up ComSkip per previous posts on this site.

Can someone help me figure out how to fix this?

I've had it happen before but it is unpredictable. I can't define that it's related to any particular action or process.

I just realized I am now suffering from the same problem. I do not watch live TV much through Sage, so I do not know at what version it started. I do know it happens whether I use the Gabest OpenSource Decoder or the Nvidia Decoder. I haven't tried with the Sage decoder yet. It also happen within SageMC when using the miniguide to change channels. Usually I can get about 3-4 channel changes then it freezes. I do not have comskip or DirMon setup at all.

This fixed this for me:

Close SageTV and the service if running and open up your Sage.properties
file. Look for this line, "seeker/fast_mux_switch=true" and change it from
true to false.

Tried it. It did nothing for me. I am still having freezes each time live tv switches to a new program. Time to run a debug log.
EDIT
Spoke too soon. I forgot to do it for the server. Once I set that property in the server properties files things are better. There is a slight stop/start but it no longer freezes. Can anyone shed some light on why I have to change this property now?

Thanks crowland,

I think this change fixed my problem. And from the other posts I've read, it seems this fix is the solution to a know problem with SageTV and Nvidia DualTV tuner cards.

Thanks again!

Hi.... I just saw your post. I have the same motherboard and I've been having lots of problems and the folks as Sage are almost convinced that it has something to do with my hardware. Do you still have problems?

Well..... not an option! My wife calls Sage my drug habit as it is :-)

But seriously, you were having so many problems that you replaced a nearly brand-new motherboard and processor?????

Just out of curiosity, what new stuff did you get?

stacy
