Turn off the LED on a USB-UIRT?

Hello everyone. I hope I'm asking an easy question. I must have a lot of IR leakage from somewhere because the red LED on my USB-UIRT basically flashes all the time. I think trying to eliminate the source will be a be pain. Isn't there some way I can disable the LED?

FYI. The setup in my signature is no longer accurate. I'll update that soon. I'm using the USB-UIRT with a DISH311 on a new dual-Xeon computer running WinXP Pro and a Hauppauge PVR-500. It's a sweet setup that finally got working!

Here's a nifty utility for the USB-UIRT:

It allows you to turn off the flashing LED for the receiver and/or transmitter.

It may be coming from a plasma or lcd monitor...

I know that when I used to turn on my 17 inch LCD, the panel itself would put out a huge amount of IR for the first minute (on a cold start).


If you cant find the source, you could always put a small peice of black electrical tape over the LED

Edit: or you could use the nifty utility posted above.. somehow I missed that
