Upgrade keys question

Hello, long time SageTV user (since 2003) here. I got up to version 4 but didn't upgrade after that. All was running fine until my hardware finally up and died the other day.

So, now it's time to build a new SageTV server, this time HDTV capable. Of course I plan to go with the latest version of SageTV, but I'm having a hard time figuring out some upgrade questions...

1) If I buy an upgrade key, but build a brand-new machine and install 6.1.x on it, can I still enter my old key and then the new upgrade key? Or will I be forced to install an old version of SageTV first, install the old key, then install the new version, then the upgrade key?

2) What happens with my SageTV Client licenses? I don't see an upgrade for those, will my original license keys work with the new 6.1 Client?

3) Same with my MediaMVP client, will I just install that key into SageTV 6.1?

Hi,

1) No need to install an older version of sage. Just enter your old key first and then you will be prompted to enter your upgrade key.

2) + 3) Your old keys will still work for everything else. The upgrade fee and new license was only for SageTV Media Center (i.e. the server)

I have a very similar situation to FJC - let me add one more question.

If I don't want to upgrade to V6 - where can I get a copy of the V4
software to continue using my old key on?

If I don't need to pay for a client upgrade (which I also have a key for) I
may just shell out the $$ for V6, but want to know what my options are
first.

This thread should give you the info you are looking for.

There is no charge for client upgrades, just for the server.

I know this has been talked about before but I could not find it. I bought version 5 and I am running version 6.0 can I upgrade to 6.2 or do I need a new key for that. I thought I was good till version 7?

There is no extra license or fee needed to upgrade from v6.0 to v6.2.
