More power management questions..

Hi all..
I have looked for an answer, but to no avail...

I need to have my server wakeup from standby ( S3 ) when a recording is scheduled to start.

My question is, do i need to have Sage running ? or is the Sage Service enough to bring it out of standby ?

Also, when the recording is finished, will the server go back into standby ?

thank you

I (very briefly) messed around with S3. After adding a Registry setting I found on The Green Button (not Sage related), the Sage service would wake up, record, and shutdown. I just leave mine up 24/7 though.

Cool... what registry setting would that be ?

I actually tried it ( not the registry trick ) , and my server did infact wake up from standby to record, but for some reason everything fell over when i started one of my clients. It wouldn't connect to server and server had to be reset.
I noticed that although the server woke up to record, the screen remained black.
Almost as if it was in a half awake half asleep state. When i moved the mouse, the screen came on.

Does this make sense ?

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usb]

"USBBIOSx"=dword:00000000

Don't know if you need it, research it first.

Yes, Service is sufficient.
You can go to Windows Control Panel´s Power Settings to set up after how many minutes Windows will return to Standby/ S3.

Is this AFTER a show has finished recording ?
Can you be more specific on which setting this is ?
thanks

Yes, it is after the recording is over. Sage will tell Windows while it is recording that it is still busy to prevent it from going into standby. Once the recording (from a favorite) is over, Sage no longer does that so that the above timer starts counting down until your specified time is over (which is when it will go into standby).

Just for clarification, that has nothing to do with sagetv waking from standby, this edit will enable your machine to go into S3 rather than just S1 with certain USB devices connected.

Vvulture,

My machine will wake for recordings, using I don't have a problem with my client connecting after the server has been in standby. The black screen can be a problem especially if you are using FSE, I have programmed my remote to put Sage in the tray when I shut off the TV, it helps when the PC comes out of standby.

Thanks for your help guys.. I have it working properly now.

I needed 2 things :

- A new and updated graphics card
- A new 850watt power supply to handle the load of 14 hard drives.

All good now. Cheers

I am having a similar problem and wanted to find out how you resolved it.

After coming out of standby to record a show I get a blank screen as well. Moving the mouse brings the screen back up. How were you able to resolve this issue?

Additionally, I get an Error window with the following "Failed to restart infrared remote hardware after standby". Capture card is Hauppauge PVR 150. Restarting the Iremote application brings the IR back up and running. If anybody has a resolution for this as well I would greatly appreciate it.

I did do some research but could not find a resolution for the problems.

Thanks in advance...

I have this exact same problem with my hauppauge remote. Hauppauge refuses to help me, saying it is the fault of my computer. Hauppauge tech support is pretty useless.

I did a search on my computer for irremote.ini and found that I had this file in a few different places on my computer. I deleted all of them and reinstalled the latest IR application from Hauppauge. I replaced the irremtoe.ini that was installed in C:\Windows with one that I got from Opus4 and it fixed my problem. I forget which one I downloaded from him, but I attached it in this post. Hope this helps someone. just remove the .txt from the end of the file before using it.
