Using USB Attached Storage for Imported Videos and DVDs

Hi,

Is there some trick to using a USB attached hard drive for storing imported videos with Sage? I have the drive shared but Sage never sees any of the videos. If I move the videos to a local hard drive and share that directory (or the drive) Sage can see them perfectly. What am I doing wrong?

Karen

Hi,

as far as I know, there is no trick to getting Sage to see the import directories.
I have 3 USB drives, H, I & J drives and sage sees them no problems.

Do you have the devices mapped as drives?

Cheers

Mark

Mark,

No, I haven't actually mapped the drives onto my system. Locally, all I have to do is plug them in and turn them on and they show up, no mapping needed. For Sage I have been using the UNC naming convention to specify the drives.

I use UNC, but it's unreliable if I ever disconnect and reconnect a USB drive: the sharing doesn't usually come back for whatever reason, but the drive letter is the same. I never do that though, so its a non-issue, but if you're having a problem with UNC, use drive letters, and make sure the drives are setup to specific letters. I doubt you'll have any probloems then.

good luck,
Ben
