How reliable is your serial tuning via PatersonTech

I got the server running yesterday. Currently using Sage 6.1.9/Java 1.6 on the client and server.
All drivers on the server are up to date (also see the attached screenshot of the PatersonTech utility).
I enabled only the channels I've subscribed to on DirectTV.
Changing the channel seems to work at random times.
For example, if I'm watching Ch 244, change to Ch 2, Sage will change to Ch 2, but the STB remains on Ch 244.
This morning I found a post that points to an older dll file, and a registry entry (as I thought channel changes were taking too long).
I shutdown Sage, and copied over the dll file, and started Sage.
It seems to be ok now, but I want to run it for a while to see who it goes.

So I'm asking to see how you like the serial tuning setup, and any tips that you can pass my way.
Thanks

What the he!! Since yesterday, it is not changing channels anymore.
When I check the device with the PatersonTech utility, it reports that it is connected.
Not sure what else I can try.
Any suggestions??????

I have 4 devices without any issues. What serial adapter are you using? Did you enable fast tuning in the registry? If it were me I would go back to the dll which shipped with your installed version.

B

PS I lock the rate to 9600 baud

Which version of Directvserialcontrol.dll are you using. Several people had problems with some of the newer versions. A user (Hector I believe) posted one from 5/8/2006 that seems to work best. If you search the forums, I'm sure you'll find it. If not then post back and I'll see if I can remember the name of the thread. BTW, I believe it is in the Sagetv Software forum not the Hardware forum.

@bcjenkins: Im using the IOGEAR GUC232A adapter. I do have the registry edit for faster channel changes.

@toricred: Im using the dll file dated 5/1/2006. I'll try looking for the thread.

Update. She seems to be working now. Not sure what it may have been but I
1. Re-enabled USB 2.0 in the bios (I turned it off and forgot about it).
2. I noticed a reset hole in the IOGEAR GUC232A, and I reset the device.
Channel changes now seem to be working again. Not sure if it would be "perfect" like you other guys, but I'll run it for a while and see what happens...

Ok. The steam is starting to come out my ears now.
Since my last post, I shut down the server (as the 2U case didn't have fans as yet).
The fans I ordered came in this evening.
I powered on everything, and the bastard isn't working again.
I just put in an order for a BAFO BF-810. I hope it gets here by Friday.
I'm going to RMA the IOGEAR piece.
I hope that things would work with the BAFO piece

Just got home.
I'm using the drivers for the IOGEAR device that were on their website (I couldn't get it installed with Patterson's driver).
Hopefully the BAFO device gets here on Friday.
I'm going to try to mess with it again. I hope I can get it working.

The BAFO piece came in yesterday.
First I made sure the Paterson piece was up to date.
Then I connected everything together.
So far it is tuning on command very nicely.
I hope it continues to work this way...
