Duplicate Recordings with HDHR

I know this was discussed in the past but I can't seem to find the thread.... How do I stop getting the same show recorded on both an analog tuner and the HDHR? I have a show setup as a favorite to only record on the SD tuner (I restricted it to only 1 channel) but IR keeps recording the same show on the HDHR (in Hi Def).

Thanks.

I believe the only choice you have is to turn off the intelligent recording.
I consider to be a non issue. So what is the show is recorded twice? When you watch the recorded show, the IR recorded show will also be marked as watched. The only real downside to this issue is that some other intelligently recorded show may get deleted to make room for the duplicated show.

Why do you want to prevent the duplicate recordings? Why not consider it a safty factor in case you primary recording is bad.

Funny timing. I was wondering just last night if there was an easy way to record both HD and SD versions of the same show without creating two favorites. I've been having some issues lately with my HDHR not tuning in Sage and it would be nice to have the SD show as a backup. Of course, I'd rather not have to turn on IR.

I don't consider it a non-issue... I often use the Play All function for favorites. On regular favorites, it will play the episodes in chronological order. However, when Sage decides to record both HD and SD simulcasts of the same program, those duplicates get randomly inserted into the otherwise chronological Play All queue. Quite irritating as you get blasted with sound when a SD recording plays when you've got the volume turned up for HD content. I have DRC cranked up, but it doesn't fully correct the level imbalance.

It would be very simple for Sage to update the IR logic. If an identical show title is playing at exactly the same time on 2 stations, it is the same show, and only 1 instance should be recorded.

I think it will work if I:
1 - Limit the favorite to the SD source.
2 - Every time Sage IR's the same show on the HD source mark it as "Don't Like" and make sure it is not set as "Watched".

I think the IR engine will eventually figure things out.....

Right now I'm in the process of "transitioning" from SD to HD;
- Cable company has unencrypted QAM.... check
- HDHR.... check
- Nice HDTV... check
- HD extender.... ch... er, coming soon :-)

Edit: I bug reported this behavior.
