HDHomeRun and VLC working, Sage not.

Hey guys,

I looked I swear I read 18 pages of the 24 page HDHomeRun thread and couldn't find my issue.

VLC works fine, although a bit jagged during movement, it works. I Ran the the HDsetup program for SAGE and it did create the entries in the sage.properties file.

I was able to see the HDHR unit in the "add tuners" module of sage. I decided to remove all my other tuners first to first get the HDHR working.

I disabled all channels in the channel lineup, then mapped my NBC to 90-1 as found by the HDHR setup/vlc testing.

When trying to view the channel, sage reports no tuners are able to tune the channel.

I've read a few entries about a Sage_HDHR.zip and sage_hdhomerun app. Are these nessassary to have sage be able to find the HDHR? I followed silicondust's instructions for HDHR and Sage with cable and did not see these files mentioned. I have not instaled any files into Sage at all, I simply ran the HDHR sage install utility.

I appreciate the help guys.
James

You need the HDHomeRun manager running before you start the SageTV server service/application. Best way to do this is to create a service for the HDHomeRun manager (use SrvAny or FireDaemon) so that it always runs.

You should also set up some dependencies so that everything starts in the correct order. I have mine set so that HDHomeRun Manager depends on DHCP. SageTV depends on HDHomeRun manager.

Unfortunately, every time you run a SageTV upgrade, the installer nukes your SageTV service and recreates it. Forces you to recreate the dependency.

I never rebooted the server once. The hdhomerun manager service was running in the system tray. Do I need to reboot the server? I did stop/start sage and sage service several times.

Have you enabled the hdhomerun manager to work with Sage? The first time I tried to get it to work, i would enable it and then when I looked in the software it had somehow disabled again. If it isn't actually enabled to work with Sage then you will still be out of luck.

How do you enable it to work with sage? If you mean run the hdhr setup program where you click on the "sage" tab and pick qam, then I have done that.

Make sure you shut down SageTv and the service if your running that. Then you can set the tuners in HDHomrun SageTv tab.

I've done that part, and the hdhr is listed, however I can't seem to tune anything with it.

What version of Sage and HDHR software are you running? Are you running at least the late March version of the HDHR stuff?
