Start Comskip/ShowAnalyzer When A Recording Starts

Hi.

Is there a way to start either ShowAnalyzer or comskip when a recording begins?

I know about DirMon2. I am looking for a way to start these guys automatically as soon as a recording starts/begins.

Can you be more specific? A scheduled recording? Or any type of recording?

SageTV is recording when playing live content.

Sorry, yes, I mean, any type of recording - specially scheduled recording.

I know that DirMon2 can scan and start ShowAnalyzer, but I am looking for a way to simply kick-off ShowAnalyzer that moment a recording starts - regardless if I am watching the recording or not.

Isn't that going to be problematic? Won't SA finish analyzing before the recording finishes? It's not going to go back and do it again.

It shouldn't be problematic. SA will just take small breaks until the show is finished. It will analyze it as it is recorded. Shouldn't be a problem.

Exactly. If I manually set ShowAnalyer to start when a movie begins, it moves along nicely until the movie is done.

I have Dirmon2 set up to watch for new files and then run comskip and my ccextractor program as soon as they appear. I have a Partial Batch that runs if the file is growing and a Final Batch that runs if it is completed recording that leaves a log file with .ccf and .csf extensions that, if present, mean the CC and Comskip are complete and don't run them again on that file.

Basically, The Partial and Final batches will not run if the complete log files are there and they only appear once the Final batches run once after the file is complete.

Seems to work so far, although ccextractor is not as good on .ts and HD mpegs as I would like.

Dirmon2 will do this if you reduce the time between scans from the default of 600 seconds to 60 seconds or less...

Sage Job Que will do this.

The que loader will run whenever a recording happens. You can set what parameters you want for it.

For example, I only process Manual and scheduled recordings. I also set a 2 min delay after the recording starts before the commercial processing begins.
