Green and Red Edge Problem: HVR-1600, PVR-150
I've noticed an analog cable issue on the HVR-1600 and the PVR-150 where edges of things (especially faces) have a green colored left edge and a red colored right edge. I'm noticing this in screen captures other people have posted on the web too.
Is this a characteristic of these tuners (or tuner cards in general)? Is there anything that can be done about it? Personally, I find it very distracting. Below are some screen captures showing the problem (1st one is mine): Last edited by jtshea; 07-28-2007 at 05:16 PM. Reason: Better title. |

me too
I find this distracting also. I wonder if it's happening in other players? ...or just Sage... I'm gonna try tonight and see.

Does not seem related to Sage. Same on other software.
Also, I've found threads in other forums where this is a problem on some TV sets too. Haven't found any conclusive information though. Even if there is no fix, it would still be nice to understand what is causing this. |

Not a fix, but you can manipulate the Aspect Ratio Settings.
Adjust the horizontal stretch out. B |

Not sure what you're getting at. Besides the green and red edges, do you think there are aspect ratio problems? Do you think an aspect ratio tweak might improve the situation?

No he means stretch your sage "window" out a bit so that the green and red lines in essence are outside the viewing area.
Are you using the underscan feature (for nividia cards, not sure about ati) so that none of your desktop is "outside" your televisions viewing area? If I am not mistaken, all televisions are setup with a bit of "overscan" so that the edges of the video are not seen on the television. if you have underscanned your computer, then you are making those edges viewable and it may not have anything to do with the video card but rather parts of the video that your cable/television channel expect you not to see. Does that make sense at all? When I have used the underscan feature for my full clients, I end up seeing a black and white fluctuating bar at the top of the video. This annoys me so I have set both video cards to the "standard" which means it appears "overscanned" and I can't see the edges of my desktop.

No, the OP is referring to green and red edges on faces (and other objects) within the image, not on the edges of the screen. Adjusting the overscan will do nothing for this.

Hey I am still working on reading comprehension. I completely missed the part after edges.

I too have the same problem with my 1600 on SD recordings (analog cable) only. Has anyone found a solution to this?
OP, perhaps you could change the title of this thread to mention Hauppauge, 150 and 1600? You might get more people reading it....

I have noticed this problem on my PVR-500 recently. I'm not sure if it just cropped up or if I just noticed it.
