Moving to a headless server - help!

Once the Intel Price Cut happens, I am looking at transition my current setup from :

Server / Main TV
Client / 2nd TV

to

Server / headless
Client / Main TV
Client / 2nd TV

The main thing I'm concerned about is retaining my recorded shows. I know where the .mpg files are - but I'm not sure what other files I need to preserve once the new machine is up and running.

SO what files do I need to save?

The only other thing that would be handy would be if I could save my channel lineups - although that really only takes me about 10 minutes to set up from scratch, so no biggy if that's not a simple save.

btl.

There is an old FAQ about moving recordings & installations. Most of the info should be in that long post. Wiz.bin should be copied to the new system.

Channel lineups may not be the easiest thing to copy, because I would suggest that you start with a fresh properties file so the sources get configured new on the new PC & other system-dependent settings don't get copied & possibly cause problems. You could always manually copy some of the properties, but starting with a fresh properties file is best, in my opinion.

I just did that. The FAQ, to a noob, is confusing because what you must do is counter-intuitive.
I'm kind of inspired to write a clearer version of the FAQ.

My server has a display but it's in the garage and used rarely. Mostly accessed via UVNC.
