Changing channel issue

I'm trying to get my wife into using SageTV, but she doesn't really seem to like it. Mainly because it is different and another gadget for her to learn, but one of her questions or issues has a valid point IMO. If you type in a number to change the channel, you have to hit enter on either the MVP or PC before it will change the channel. Is there a reason for this? Is there an option to make it that if I only type the number 6, it changes to channel 6? Thanks so much for the help.

There is a new option in the v6.2 beta, found at Detailed Setup -> Customize -> Channel Entry Options.

You can tell it to auto-accept the channel change after the user input timeout period and you can configure the max number of digits to accept before it also auto-accepts the change.

Yeah, that does work, but only on the PC. Any way to get that to work on the MVP? That option isn't on the MVP.

Thanks

It should be... since it sounds like you are using the beta, make sure you are using the default STV (SageTV3.xml) on your MVP.

If you selected a customized STV for the MVP, note that it doesn't get reset back to the default STV when an upgrade is installed, but it does get reset on the PC.

Or, did you disable the timeout period on the MVP? If you press Info while playing something, does the OSD automatically go away after a few seconds?

The OSD screen does go away after about 3 seconds. What does that mean?

That means the input timeout period is active.

Did you double check that you have the correct STV loaded on your MVP? You mentioned not even seeing the option for this on the MVP. If that is true, then I don't think the correct STV is loaded because there is nothing in the STV that turns the feature off on an MVP.

It did show that I was using the SageTV.xml file, but I went ahead and re-loaded it again. Now the option was there and all is good. Thanks so much for all the help.
