Sage 6.2.10 - Dynamic Menu Still a problem

It still does not highlight the upcoming recordings and there still seems to be a problem with how the background looks on various screens in Sage. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mike

Make sure you are using the default SageTV STV that comes with 6.2 to start with and not an older one left over with a .stv extension.

But I think the problem was there was a patch Sage released because the default one was not properly working with YouTube. How can I repair this so that both the Dynamic Menu properly highlights things and YouTube works?

Thanks,

Mike

After several days of this, I finally reverted back to 6.1.9. I do not like the new interface or the way the guide looks and it's very confusing in 6.2.10 when I try to sort by category, newest it doesn't seem to work. I liked it the way it was before but now I just don't have access to YouTube so I may miss that until they get all the bugs fixed in this new interface. Anxiously awaiting as I've tried to install both the 6.2.8 and 6.2.10 and it just doesn't seem to work.

There should be no problem with online videos using the default STV that comes with v6.2.10, other than maybe the "Movies" item on the Google Video menu.

As was mentioned, you should use the STV provided with v6.2 and then import the custom menu STVi.

I upgraded to v6.2.10.152 a couple of days ago. I was about to re-import the Dynamic Menu when I saw this thread. I checked the version on my Client install and it says the STV file (SageTv.xml) that I am using is v6.2.9.1 September 13, 2007. Is this the latest version?

The STV had no changes between v6.2.9 and v6.2.10, so it wasn't updated in the installer. (Yes, sometimes it would be, just to keep the version numbers in sync.)

You can find the release version (not beta versions) of the default STV in the Downloads section, in the middle of the 2nd bar at the top of any forum page. The STV Packages download area has a few sticky entries for the last few release versions. When in doubt about the STV version, check what is listed there. Or, see the bottom of my profile page.

Which dynamic menu version? Are you using the latest (there were 2 updates to fix this and other issues for 6.2).

If your menu items for google/youtube are not working, try the default 6.2 menu xml. If they work, copy/paste them into your custom menu file.

Okay I now have the latest version again and I have the dynamic menu fixed. But, there are still two problems in this latest release.

=================================================
EDITED: FORGET THIS FIRST PROBLEM I MADE A MISTAKE (please see below for the ongoing problem I'm still having)
(This first problem I noticed is in the old release as well) I like my Sage Recordings grouped newest to oldest and grouped by category Title. But, the manual recordings are not being grouped with the same title. So suppose I have a Favorite "The Simpsons" and I decide that something that I deleted a while back is now on again and I do a Manual Record then it does not group that with the my Favorites of "The Simpsons" Suppose, I just want all of them grouped by Category by Title regardless of how they were recorded. Can this be done?
=================================================

With regards to the latest release I still don't like the appearance of the screen at the Guide or Sage Recordings or many other screens. It has a haze to it that it did not have before. I am using a custom background but I don't think that would affect the guide or other sections because it did not affect them like this before. I have attached 2 jpg files showing the "old" guide and the "new" guide with the same background I used before.

Thanks again for all the help and insight.

Here's another screen shot and this one is terrible. It's actually no longer a problem at all with the dynamic menu but a problem with using the same background image in the new version. I'm not sure if this post should be moved but here's the image where I go to the Options menu while watching TV.

It looks to me like you are customizing some images w/o modifying the rest of the theme to work with those custom images. Appendix O of the v6.2 PDF manual talks about the new theme system and/or see: New for v6.2: Themed Graphics.

If you customize some images, it is up to you change the rest of the theme to compensate.

Mine doesn't look like that and I have customized many of the graphics. I can see why you are concerned, might try reloading from scratch or choosing a theme.

You might also dump your client.properties, you something isn't right.

So, how can I tell the new version 6.2.1 to simply use the exact same themes as in 6.1.9 when I use a background jpg image? I have tried the SD and HD 720 themes and neither one work. The background image I'm using seems to create a problem.

Attach your BG image here so we can see it.

You don't. v6.2.10 has overhauled the UI on most screens, using new graphics for everything from the BG, the button images, different highlighted text color, etc. The various theme's definitions were all designed to work with other elements of the theme. When you change the background to a completely different image (the default is dark blue; yours looks like a solid light gray), you'll probably need to redefine the appearance of many elements of the foreground that have been designed to work on that dark BG.

Opus made an excellent point, all the text is white so your background should always be a dark color.

Okay - question then - there seem to be only 3 themes Standard, HD720 and the hires. Are there other themes that I can download from somewhere so that there are several to choose from so that my wife doesn't go crazy with a dark blue theme?

Thanks,
Mike

There is only 1 so far, but for future reference, they will be found where other customizations are located: in the Downloads area and/or in the List of available customizations.

The 3 that come in the installer are really the same thing in 3 different resolutions.

Whats the problem with blue? You can easily photochop that into whatever shade you like, still it needs to remain dark or modify the text colors.
