Channel Changing Issue??? HELP

I am new to sage.....Anyway I am using a p3 800 with pvr 150 card. All works ok....but when i change channels by hand or with the remote the screen remains black....then it will say no signal...What i have noticed is when i goto the program guide i see the little record icon on the show that I was watching before. So Obviously it is trying to record everything that i am watching and being that i only have 1 card in the system that is why I am having this problem.

My question is how do i stop this from happening so i can change from channel to channel when watching live tv?

Please help

Thanks

wow, if you give up that fast, oh well. Later on, hope you find BeyondTV better suited for you.

If you were sticking around, I'd say that maybe a P3-800 would be underpowered for you, expecially depending on the video card. A low-performance video card and a software MPEG decoder would give poor performance.

That is the way that Sage does it. All shows are recorded to their own file, there is no "circular buffer" like other PVR/DVRs.

OK, looking at your other posts. With such a poor video card maxing out the CPU, I'd guess that the ssystem is basically locking up on you.

For someone to give much of a suggestion, they would need to know how the card is connected to a source & how you are changing channels: via the tuner on the card, via IR signals sent to the STB, etc.

Have you tried making sure you have the latest drivers for the 150? Does it work properly when used with the Hauppauge software? And, as was mentioned above, SageTV always records what you watch -- live TV is really just a recording that is being played while it is still recording. But, you should be able to change channels during live TV.

This is a user-to-user forum, not a support forum; the support request page says to give 72 hours for a response; and you only have 4 posts here (2 of which were essentially bumps) & you gave no further response the last time I replied to you.

Gee, straight to MCE you go. I think with your expectations you will find BTV much too slow to help you out if you need it.

The fact that you have a severely underpowered HTPC (as other posters have noted) is another issue.

ok....well thanks for the replys. I have not given up totally on sage. In the system i put a 128 geoforce card, pvr 150 and 512 ram. What is happening is when i change channels I get a "no signal" If you goto the guide you can see the "rec" icon that it is recording....but i didnt set anything to record. That is my problem that i cannot fix. I purely tried btv to see if it was the card or a software issue....btw btv changes channels fine....but i would rather use sage so i need to get this figured out but no matter which setting i still have this problem of when i changle channels i get the no signal and the recording ico on the guide showing it is recording the last channel i was on. Any idea on that?

Sorry for being pissed but spent a bunch of time on this and having no luck with sage and would rather use sage than btv cause it seems better

Any help is appreciated

not sure why Sage is continuing to record the last channel, and not recording the new channel. But just to let you know, it was recording the last channel, and since it still is, that is why you see the REC icon. Sage is ALWAYS recording if you are watching Live TV.

Does it work ok for normal scheduled recordings, and you are only having problems with Live Tv surfing?

How are you feeding the PVR-150? With straight Coax so you are using the internal tuner? Or with a Set-top-box tuning on the box and just using the s-video/composite connector? Are you using the latest drivers for the PVR-150? http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/suppo...rt_pvr150.html

What version of Sage are you running? Any plugins installed?

You may want to turn on debug Logging. YOu may notice something wrong there, or else you cna post a log file here, or send to Sage Tech Support if they need it. From the FAQ:
Quote:
Q: I have a problem using SageTV and was asked to enable debug logging. How do I do that?

A: There is a property file setting to enable debug logging.

Edit sage.properties and add this line:

debug_logging=TRUE

Enter the line exactly as shown above. TRUE must be in all CAPS for this property.

Before editing the properties file, make sure SageTV or the service is not running. If you edit the properties file while SageTV is running, the change will be ignored.

If you are using a client, edit sageclient.properties instead.

After this change, SageTV will create a new sagetv_0.txt and/or sagetvclient_0.txt log file in the SageTV installation directory each time it is run. Save those files from when a problem occurs to help track down a problem -- they can be emailed to betatest at sagetv.com

if you are still having problems, then enable debug logging and see what it says. If you post it here on the forum, one of your fellow customers may notice something that jumps out at them. Otherwise, iwth that log file, you have something you can send it to Sage if they ask for it.
