Q on Hauppauge Drivers

I want to add a Hauppauge PVR USB2 (on hand) to my Sage server which already has a PVR 150 card. It's not clear that I do or do not need to install different Hauppauge driver software. Their website driver downloads are not specific to the PCI card vs. the USB2 product.

So, can I assume that the drivers already there for the PCI card will support the USB2 product and I need not install new/more?

I believe thats the way it works. The downloads seem to contain all the drivers for many different products. Just remember to use the HCW clear programme before you install the new drivers to clear the old ones out.

Regards

Ben

I would hope to not run their hwclear because the PVR 150 is in service and I'm adding the USB2?

The Hauppauge website shows separate drivers for most of their product line. Some drivers may cross over (ie the PVR-150 and PVR-500) because they are based on similar hardware. The PVR-150 and the USB2 product are not based on similar hardware and require separate drivers.
The current list can be found here:

This link http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/pages/sup...w_xpvista.html contains drivers for both your TV cards. The WinTVCD 4_0_UK.exe will install seperate drivers for each piece of hauppauge hardware you have. I personnally run the hcwclear, restart, cancel new found hardware upon restarting, navigate to the directory where you unzipped the file and then run the HcwDriverInstall. I have 3 different hauppauge cards and always use this method. It generally works for me.

I would assume this would be the same procedure for other countries as well.

I was going to upgrade my old PVR-USB2 drivers since I still have the problem where I can't get an ungarbled recording from my networked encoded PC when I plug into a gigabit router (I have a thread about this strange problem somewhere. I've eliminated all possible causes but the PVR-UB2). I'm hoping that the latest Hauppauge drivers might fix it.

I did the whole dance, running hcwclear.exe., running the Hauppauge driver installers etc. Problem is, that apparently messes up both SageTV & HIP for me on my encoding PC. While the new Hauppauge WinTV install all works, SageTV no longer controls the device. Do I have to install it as a new encoded video source all over again in Sage? My drivers are from last year sometime. thanks.

edit: OK, figured out the upgrade problem. I had to go into the Sage.properties files for both the server and the network encoder PC's and delete all the PVR-USB2 entries, re-add the PVR on the encoder machine's Sage interface and setup the video source from the server. whew! let's just hope it fixes my gigabit issues.
