Mac placeshifter not connecting. Windows one works fine!

Hey gang...

So I recently got a new Macbook to replace an ailing (but still somewhat usable) Windows laptop. I downloaded and installed the Mac placeshifter client software and went to connect to my SageTV server (6.x). Now the strangeness:

If I have the Mac connected on my home LAN, it'll connect and play just fine (although I seem to not be getting all of the icons for the controls, but that's another issue). If I attempt to connect from a remote network (say from my office) it always reports that the Locator could find the server, but when I try to connect, no dice. I tried connecting via hardcoding in the IP address and that didn't work either.

I then took my old Windows laptop and ran the same test. It was able to successfully connect both from the LAN and from an external network. As such, I seriously doubt it's my network configuration. What else should I be looking at? It has to be something on the Mac or in the software itself...

HELP!

I don't have this problem, but I'll take a stab at it. Firewall issue with the MacBook?

Doubtful since until a day or two ago, I didn't even have the firewall turned on (still getting used to the Mac... didn't realize it wasn't on by default.)

Maybe I need to re-download the app and try again?

Ok, got it working....

On a hunch, I looked at the firewall settings again... Decided to try adding a specific port rule for Sage and that fixed it! (Weird that turning the firewall off completely didn't help...)

So nice to be able to watch TV remotely again!!!
