Wireless connect after standby

Hi All,

This is my first post, although I have been reading the forums for months.

This is not strictly a Sage problem, but I feel sure some of you must have had trouble with this too. I am in the process of building my first HTPC and I want to be able to download XMLTV data for the EPG overnight via a wireless network. I also want the HTPC to go into standby when not in use, start up at the required time, do the download and the go back to standby. My problem is that the wireless adaptor in the HTPC does not re-connect with the router after it wakes from standby although it connects fine from a hard power up.

I have searched the forums here and scoured the web to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go to the networking panel. Right click on the wireless card, then click properties. Under the power management tab, try unchecking "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

Thanks for your reply GTwannabe.

I already tried that, no go. In case it helps, I am using XP Pro, a Netgear DG834G v3 wireless router and a Belkin F5D7000 PCI network card. What I was thinking was there might be a utility that could reset the network card after resume from standby. Just a thought.

Are you using the Windows wireless connection manager, or a 3rd party utility?

I had been using the software that came with the Belkin card, but after reading your last reply, GTwannabe, I tried the Windoze utility and it works just fine. The card now connects after standby every time. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
