Music streaming sounds less than FM quality Version 6.3.2

How can I make streamed/transcoded music sound CD quality? I certainly have more than enough upstream Internet bandwidth. I can understand when the audio for television needs to be kind of low, but when doing music only, more bandwidth should be allocated. Is there a setting I've overlooked? I already have media extender quality set to high.

I am using SageTV 6.3.2 and Placeshifter 6.3.2

Whats your source quality? I have never been able to tell any difference, now if you have a 28k MP3 thats going to sound bad regaurdless.

320Kbps mp3s, FLAC lossless.

My Internet upstream speed is ~768kbps.

Again, the audio sounds less than FM quality... im guessing 20kbps or less.

How are you measuring the bandwidth at both ends?

Im not.. rough guess... close enough to know the audio sounds nowhere near as good as a standard 128kbps mp3.

Are you using the Dynamic Streaming System or a fixed rate? In either case, you may want to set the fixed rate to slightly less than your upload (like 512) and see if that resolved the problem.

Its set at auto/dyanmic... seems to do a very good job with TV transcoding. I'll give it a shot...

Thanks!
