No Audio w/HD extender
I just received the new Extender. Hooked it up using a DVI to HDMI cable and a DVI to HDMI adapter. Then I connected the audio with a analog from the Extender to the mini stereo connector on the tv. That's the only audio input for the HDMI. After doing that no audio. I did make sure the Extender is set to use the analog outputs. I didn't change anything on the TV, since nothing changed on that end. I did the firmware upgrade also.
Am I missing anything? By the way, the remote IR is horrible and no TV power button. Crummy layout too.

I'm seeing no audio on my extender too.. but oddly.. if I pause playback and then resume.. it usually starts again.. sometimes a channel change will do it too..

Hello,
Could you run the video file through the GSpot Codec Information Tool so we can see which video or audio codec your file is using and spot the formats the HDextender can't handle correctly .Regards, Cortechs.

I had this issue too... drove me nuts yesterday until I got it working.
Get into the Extender config menu (if I remember right, put it to sleep, wait, then press home (while asleep)). Tell it to use HDMI as the audio option. I did that and now it works. And as far as I know, my TV doesn't accept HDMI as the audio input so I assume it's enabled the stereo outputs or something (I know, I should test it by pulling the RCA plugs from the extender and see if I'm really getting audio through HDMI or through analog... just too lazy (it's in a cabinet blah blah blah) |

I'm having a slightly different audio issue. When watching HD content I get small little audio drop-outs. They last about 1 second and only happen once in a while (maybe 4-8 times per hour show, mostly during commercials but even in the show once in a while).
It's not a huge issue for me however my wife is a little irritated at times. There is no studder or any other issues with the video portion. I'm streaming live from an HDHR. I have not checked to see if I'm running TS or MPG yet. Any ideas? |

Audio on "live" streams has issues with the current extender firmware. Lots of people have reported this.
The fix is to watch almost live TV - just 10 seconds behind live eliminates all the audio issues I have seen - and I've seen everything mentioned in this thread! btl.

Switching the Audio to HDMI woked. Thanks
Can't understand why it worked, but it did. So far so good. Moving through the menus is really slow, and the IR on the Unit sucks aZZ! I can't believe they let this get out the door like this. I guess they wanted it out by X-mas. Oh ya, no TV power button? Why not?

How about $. A programmable remote would add significantly to the cost of the unit and for those that might care probably have their own programmable remote such as a Logitech Harmony. In other words there's not enough benefit to the targeted customers to increase the price the needed amount to be able to include a programmable remote.
For myself, I'm happy with my Harmony.

Which Harmony do you have? Does that make any difference on the IR reception?

I have Harmony 520 - got two on ebay for $40 each.
![]() They work better than the OEM remote - but you still have to be pointed at the unit.

As with bialio I still have aiming issues with the HD Extender. I'll consider eventually drilling a hole or at least thinning the material in front of the receiver. For the time being I'll just deal with it. |

I've got a 680 & am seeing the same thing. Better than the original remote, but still has to be dead on. I've got a question in to Support asking if drilling the hole will void my warranty before I proceed with the mod.

I'll bet it does void the warranty. It would be nice if there was a better fix than drilling a hole. I'm just very surprised it got out the door with that. How could no one have noticed, or cared it they did. Let us know what you find out.

I don't notice it much with my 2 extenders. They are a little more directional but only slightly more directional than my HDTV so I can see how it would be missed.
