Any update on "Project Ortus"? Perhaps its time to open a thread dedicated to it.

I think it's s toss up as to what will show up first-Christmas 2009 or Ortus. It's a ways off. My 2 cents.

If memory serves, Ben said "no teasers until it's ready".

I went back to look at the Ortus screenshots.. wow that looks very nice.. I really like the new Serenity theme but I've found that that some of the words are hard to read over the lighter background. Kinda similiar issues with using full background Fan Art. It would be kinda cool if it could analyze the general color scheme of the background and adjust the text color to make it easier to read.

Ok, here's two screenshots of the TV series screen, one of the actual screen in action and the other is of the first tier options. Things are moving quite quickly at the moment but its still some way off.

Are SageMovieWall and "Project Ortus" compatible with each other? I'm setting up BMI this weekend and wanted start planning which addons to use that take advantage of automatic fanart.

Not currently compatible no. But I did help with a wall on ortus as well as some other views.

Maybe I can look at making SMW compatible with importing into ortus once it is further along.

Check out this thread from Mike on the matter if you want more premilinary information. To sum up, however... be patient. It's going to be a while (not weeks... MONTHS).

Not a problem. Just curious on ortus though. I'm not trying to rush but it looks really nice and I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Its been awhile since my last update regarding Ortus so I thought I'd post one today.....almost two months in-fact....... doesn't time fly when your having fun.
Things are going pretty well but its going to take alot longer than I initially thought so don't expect to see it for quite a few months yet.

The biggest and most important change since the last update is the ability to add/remove shows to Ortus's own proprietary library system. This library system handles TV Shows, TV Series and Movies all of which can be set from within the UI. So basically you can import a show or record a show from TV and if your scrapper doesn't pickup the shows metadata correctly you can manually change it with the click of a button. An example in the UK would be the Gadget Show, this would normally get placed within the general recordings screen however its really a TV series so all I have to do is click a button and the show gets moved to the TV Series area of Ortus and will never be shown in recordings list again (recordings list can be filtered to remove tv series if you want to).

This library system also handles Genre selection and hopefully very soon a new feature called Quick Genre assign which will enable a user to select a specific genre......lets say Kids.....and then whizz through a list selecting movies or shows to assign this genre type too. This should be much easier than going through one item at a time.

We also have our own properties system which enables the user to filter TV Series via season on a per show basis. So if you wanted to only view season 3 of Lost, Season 5 of Heroes and season 1 of the Simpsons you can, all individually. The system will also bookmark which season you filtered to last so when you return your automatically shown the last filtered season for that show.

Various screens have different views available (one can be seen below), the obligatory List view, Poster Flow, Banner Flow and a new one I like to call Snake Wall which I'll leave to your imagination to workout how it works.

Any comments, suggestions or questions are always welcome.

I become quite jealous when I see such beautiful screenshots! I wish my SageTV looked that nice... But, alas. After all the time I spend trying to configure my SageTV to be beautiful and functional, it just wants more time!
