MX-850 Button Layout for STX-HD100

The attached files include an MX-850 layout with all buttons mapped based on a Pronto CCF (also included) The Pronto file was made using RC-5 device 28 codes and the information on the layout as provided by Opus4, here.

Interestingly, I am seeing double presses every other press of buttons in succession. eg. If you arrow right in the guide twice, you will actually move three times. I am testing rc5_disable=true now for resolution.

Power is linked to discrete on and off and all buttons are mapped to hard buttons or on the LCD. Since this is my first day with the new remote, please let me know if there are any tricks I can do better.

Hi B,

My 850 is on the way. I don't really need to replace my MX-700, but for the price the 850 is now going for I could not resist. Since I already have a couple of the IR/RF base stations I am hoping that an emitter on the front of the extender will solve the IR reception problems it has.

When I tried Andy's config I somehow ended up with several buttons mapped to the same IR codes. This made for trouble when teaching sage the commands. Since it is working for Andy I must have botched the import somehow. I ended up just importing the Haup 45 button remote and shortcutting (a word?) the buttons from my sage device to it.

I am not entirely happy with it, so I will look forward to trying your config
tonight.

BTW, URC remotes are guaranteed WAF boosters.

Jesse

Please let me know how it works out. Their software was not the most intuitive, but I figured out power macros! I am using this remote for a TV and the STX; complete overkill but it was priced close enough to other options to make it a buy.

Hi B,

I will load it into my MX-700 and try it this weekend.

As for the software, have you RTM? I did find it (the manual) to be quite good compared to most.

Does the MX-850 have the ability to be programmed with new RC5 codes that properly toggle? If not, then until they add the STX-HD100 codes that I sent them, your best bet is to use the built-in Hauppauge remote codes.

I'm asking because the MX-700 cannot be programmed for toggling RC5 codes, which is why I used the built-in codes - they are the only ones that will toggle. You cannot use Pronto files with RC5 codes to fully program an MX-700, so repeated presses of the same key might just look like the button is being held down unless rc5_disable=true has been set.

Hi Andy,

AFAIK the MX-850 has the same learning capabilities as the MX-700. It looks like we will be using the Haup device in the URC database.

Any word from URC as to when they may add the HD extender to the database?
