placeshifter screen black

I have installed SageTV 6.3.5 but whenever I connect to it from the placeshifter (version 6.2.10) on the Mac, the screen is shown as all black. The 6.2.10 placeshifter on windows is fine, by the way.

I reverted to SageTV version 6.2.10 on the server and everything works again. so it seems like an incompatibility between the mac version of placeshifter and the new Sage server.

There is another thread on this forum which documents a similar problem and that user solved it by deleting the clients folder on the sage server, but unfortunately that didn't work for me.

Can anyone please help?

Hi,

I am using the 6.3.6 version in Linux and had the same problem. I solved the problem by changing the config on my ATI driver to be 24 bits instead of the default 16 bit. Now everything works like it should. This fix worked in PCLOS07 and Ubuntu.

I'm having the same problem with my Mac Placeshifter (v6.2.10) and Windows XP Sage Server (6.3.5). When I try to connect to the server from my Mac running Placeshifter v6.2.10, I just get an empty black screen. When I run Placeshifter v6.1.x it works again.

OBTW, I tried running the Mac Placeshifter v6.3.4 release candidate (Is this the latest Mac version??) which I found at http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28867, and I still get an empty black screen after connecting to the server.

Have you tried updating your video driver?

Since it's a Mac, I'm not exactly sure how to update the video driver. I assume that if I update OSX, it'll also contain the latest drivers. I am running OSX v10.4.11 which is apparently the latest 10.4 release, since Software Update says I'm up-to-date.
