Playback Error -5,0x80040256
My son usually takes care of the tv stuff but he just joined the Army and is in boot camp for the next 9 weeks. I appologise for the inexperience to start with. I am running Vista home and everything was working fine until windows did an update today. Now I have the Sage playback error. I still get sounds in windows and get the beeps and stuff in sage but when I try to play a movie or tv show i get the error. Everything is recording fine I can play the shows on my wifes media extender. My next move is to use the restore point that windows created before the updates. I just wanted to see if there was an easier fix to this. The error displays in Sage...
Sage.playbackException: Error (-5,0x80040256): There was a problem rendering the audio portion of the content for playback. Thanks in advance.

When that error code was posted here, reinstalling or updating the sound card drivers fixed the problem.

Thanks for the help. I downloaded the new driver. But no luck. However I did some messing around and in Sage, I guess when the windows update went in the sound playback got changed from default to Reltec which is what is installed. I changed it back to default and all is well now. Thanks for the quick responce.
