2 MVPs no longer working

Since I got my HD Extender right after thanksgiving, I haven't used 2 of my MVPs.

Went to turn one on tonight and it just sat there saying "Sage TV....booting up". Figuring that I probably upgraded Sage at least once since then, I pulled the plug so it could download its boot rom again.

Now it goes through the Hauppauge boot screen, sucessfully then just sits on a blank screen forever.

DAMMIT! Sick in bed and all I wanted to do was watch recorded shows :-)

the HD extender still works and I have plenty of licenses. I also tried both MVP s and they both do exactly the same thing.

Any help would be appreciated but for now I guess I'm stuck with my damn strep throat watching crappy old live tv.

Thanks

Stacy

Try deleting the clients properties files and see if that works.

That was the first thing I tried. Nothing.

The MAC address and IP shows up on my router's status. the remote (well, the POWER) button will work on the MVP so it's (both of them) are not bricks. Even when sitting in the black screen it will power on and off. Just no Sage.

I have changed absolutely nothing - no router - nothing (other than upgrading to the latest Sage) on the main server, no new switches, nothing.

I assume no one else is having this issue with MVPs (is anyone still using MVPs?)

Have you tred uplugging both MVPs? I had tested both (wired and wireless) of my MVPs last week after updating VISTA. Last night I could not get my wireless MVP to work, I thought it may have been caused by a power outage yesterday. Today I saw your post and test my wired MVP, it showed the same problem you have. I then realized that the new beta may have a new mvp.bin file. I then unplugged for about 10 minutes. I then tried again and it came right up. I just plugged in my wireless MVP which had been unplugged since last night. It also came up without any problem.

Yes I unplugged but not for 10 minutes. I'll try that now.

Just curious..... what was your reason for upgrading your Sage server to Vista? Don't worry I'm not going to poo-poo on it, just curious if there was a big benefit and maybe I should.....

I was already using Vista. I upgraded from the released Vista to Vista SP1 RC1, to fix the TCP stack issues. I would not recommend VISTA yet, but it is getting close. I am still seeing TCP stack issues with the HD extender. I don't use the MVP extenders enough to know if that problem is solved or not. I believe it probably is, but my main concern now is the HD extender.

OK.... it's working again.

I had to re-boot the sage server. Why? No idea. Should I **EVER** have to reboot the sage server? NO!

Nothing worked... MVP, HD100 or Placeshifter.

ARRGGHHH!!!!

thanks to those who tried to help!
