Can HD Extender play a DVD in server DVD drive

I was wondering if it was possible to play a DVD that I put in my server DVD drive through an Extender?

When I select play DVD (and there is no DVD in my server), I get a message that says there is no DVD in the drive (which is expected since there is no drive in the extender). But when I put a DVD in my server and select play DVD on the extender, it acts like it going to play something. After about a minute, it says it's unable to play the DVD.
So something is trying to happen, and I was wondering if it's possible and if so, what I need to do to make it work.

The UI on the extender shouldn't even be showing the option for "Play DVD" on the Media Center menu... unless you are using a custom STV that still has it.

Extenders cannot play commercial encrypted DVDs. They can play a nonencrypted DVD (such as a home made DVD) in the drive by setting that drive as an import directory, then refreshing the imported media. You may be better off just leaving the DVD on the hard disk, in that case, though.
