Videos that play in WMP choke Sage?

I use Sage a lot and throw a lot of different media types at it.

I've found a few that give Sage's player a lot of trouble, even though they play fine on WMP on the same system.

Just tonight I had a couple of WMV files cause Sage to freeze. they'll play OK, but if ever try and skip forward a little using the 10-sec. advance button on my remote, Sage chokes on it and eventually freezes.

After going through this on two of the 4 wmv files tonight, and having to cancel the sage process through task manager to get out of it, I opened up WMP and played the files straight through, no problem with liberal use of the high speed fast forward.

Sage also freezes sometimes on some MP4 files (one guy who I get these files from, his freeze all the time), with the video freezing sometimes with the audio keeps playing. When they don't freeze, if I try to skip forward, the video gives five quick stutters before it resumes smooth play.

I've also had some TV recordings made with Sage itself refuse to playback inside Sage, crashing instead with an error in module hcw_mcl2ad.ax.

My HTPC is new-ish (new last summer), with a fast core duo processor, 2gb RAM, and an 8800GT. Since these videos play fine in other software, is this just a Sage limitation or can this be fixed?

Thanks.

I have been having the same problem with ripped DVDs. I put the details and the debug log here http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23172

I wonder if it is the same problem?
