3rd party remote, select button not working well (HD100)

I have MX500 and MX600 Home Theater Master remotes. I want to use one of these instead of the stock HD100 remote because it has the transport buttons in an awkward place. With either remote, I learn the select button just fine, and when I press select the HD100 works as expect. The problem comes when I try to press select a second time. It does not work unless I press another button, and then select again.

For example, I highlight a recorded video, then press select and the dialog opens and asks if I want to watch now. If I press select again to choose watch now, the LEDs on the HD100 flash, but nothing happens. I can press select a hundred times and nothing happens. If I press down, then up, then select it will work.

This is true for both remote. I even tried learning other codes into the remote and linking them to the "select" action in Sage but I get the same results. The stock remote does not exhibit this behavior, but it doesn't pass the WAF test. It is indeed very hard to just pick up and hit pause for example.

Learn the Select button twice in Detailed Setup-Commands. You'll probably find out it generates two different codes. Certain remotes you'll need to learn all the buttons twice.
