SageTV Mpeg-2 AV Decoders-Good Stuff!

Lately, I decided to try out the Sage built-in mpeg-2 decoder which I had previously found somewhat CPU intensive. This time I turned on DXVA support and it really reduced my CPU burden to somewhere between ~ 15%(SD) - 30%(HD).

I then tried out the audio decoder and obtained the benefit of hearing the audio in ReplayTV files as well as standard AC3. I used to have to switch between AC3 Filter and another filter to obtain both.

So, all-in-all, I was actually very pleased with both built-in Sage video AND audio decoder.

What I don't know is what de-interlacing is going on and how the Dscaler Deinterlacing plugin would impact my performance or quality. Does anyone have any insight?

It's all osftware action so it will affect performance. It also depends on what deinterlacing technique you choose too.

I guess I have 2 questions then, what method is being employed by the default codec with DXVA turned on and does Dscaler do a better job albeit with a performance hit?
