USB-UIRT to control 3 or 4 boxes

i know i should just buy one and start messing with it and i will figure it out but i would like to know more info before i do that. please bare with me as i ask a few quetions:
1) how many set to boxes can 1 USB-UIRT control?
2) can you use 2 USB-UIRTs on 1 media PC /Server?
3) can you suggest anything else that would help me do what i want?

i have 2 dual analog tuners (PVR-500s) and i am happy with being able to record up to 4 shows. next year those tuners will be worthless when everything switches to digital. i can use the S-VIDEO / RCA inputs on them with digital cable boxes or sat boxes. i want to keep the 4 tuner setup though. should i go with the USB-UIRT setup or look for a couple USB2serial cables to control the boxes? note: not all boxes have serial ports. please suggest any and all ideas.

1 USB-UIRT can control any number of STBs if they can all be set to use different IR code sets, or up to 3 devices if they each use the same IR set. Multiple USB-UIRTs can be used, if needed.
