HD Extender stutters like crazy.

I'm using the DVBDream network encoder with SageTV and the HD Extender stutters like crazy watching either live tv or recorded programs. Through the regular client it works fine. Also watching DVDs or other video files the Extender is fine. Is there anything I can do make it work better?

Thanks.

its your encoder plugin, you need to follow instructions for the encoder. I use the Mfury for DVBDream, its the only one that works for DVB DREAM correctly

Can you elaborate more on this "you need to follow instructions for the encoder"? I followed the instructions to getting it all working in Sage, is there something else? The one I'm using is the H.264 DVBDream SageTV Network Encoder, that one doesn't work with the extender?

Thanks.

H.264 DVBDream SageTV Network Encoder doesn't create the video files correctly and the STX will not play nice with them. I just use Mfurys default settings and they work. AS for H.264, there is nothing at this point that can do the job correctly for what I think your asking. Perhaps you should be asking your questions on authors of that plugin's forum/post, instead of here.

I have the EXACT same problem with my HD100 using Dinesh's H264 SageTV plugin...VERY VERY choppy SD and HD playback. It's been like this for 3 months and I'm very frustrated to say the least...SageTV support has also been disappointing.

Will someone please correct me if I'm wrong...mfury's plugin will not do H264 so what's the point of using it if you have h264 HD? I have heard from multiple people that mfurys plugin will work with the HD100, but I have h264 so if that plugin won't do HD then why use it?

I'm frustrated to say the least with the HD100...$200 down the drain because all video, SD and HD is unwatchable. Has anyone found a reasonable solution to this problem?

Could someone please try to play this video on the HD extender ??

http://www.nonwork.com/files/test/testMPEG4HD.ts (this was recorded with tsreader lite)

and

http://www.nonwork.com/files/test/testMPEG4DVBDREAM.ts (this was recorded with DVBDream)

My theory is that its a bug with the handling of the stream of dvbdream.. but lets see what the results are

your theory is correct but the the stream from DVBdream's plugin is not correct. That Author of the plugin states he needs help with the H.264 side of things. So what does that tell us? well this author needs help and I hope someone with the creative knowledge can help him. Until then I have been using Mfury's plugin and not using H.264-plugin because of errors in the videos.

What im talking here is that we could try and submit a bug to the dvbdream devs and see if they can check what could be wrong.. from the internal TS recorder, since that 'bug' doesnt just affect the plugin, rather than all the recording system of dvbdream. The sample I took was without the Network Encoder plugin, and if you say that it stutter like when using it as network tuner on sage, and the tsreader stream played fine on the hd extender... then i think we have isolated the problem

the test clip you posted that was created in dvbdream, How did you make it? (start and then stop ?) because I can only read the H.264 video track and not the audio track in the demux program.

As it stands right now, there is a issue (skipping) with audio track on the test clip created with dvdbdream, Tsreader test clip is AVC main 4.0 profile and DD stereo (cheap bastards for not getting 5.1) works great with no issues, but too short kinda like that song. Sage see the format correctly for tsreader clip and plays just fine. But Sage tags the audio as "Stereo eng" instead of "stereo" for the dvbdream clip and the fact I can't demux the audio and the stx & skips about 15-18 seconds into the 30 second clip. I'm leaning towards something not being writen correctly on the audio side ?

Now back when the author made his first test plugin , it work parallel with Mfury's plugin as an addon, and that seemed to work for the most part but you either had normal Mpeg2 or H.264 but not both. And I wasn't aware of a internal issue with DVBdream itself with H.264.

I used the stream recorder module (didnt want to use anything of the H264 network encoder). Anyways I just submited a bug report to the DVBDream project.. hoping that devs will take a look on it.
