Mac Client 6.x on windows MC 5.x

I own MC 5.x for Windows and have no real desire to upgrade to 6.x. But I would like to buy the 6.x client for Mac, but it doesn't seem to work with my 5.x server. Is it just me or will they really not work together?

Different major versions of SageTV server & client usually don't work together. The major version needs to be the same & sometimes the minor version needs to be the same too.
