Re-install SageTV

Hi,

My new HD Extender is in the mail and I would like to bring up a new Linux SageTV Server.

I haven't really decided which distribution to use (leaning towards Ubuntu, or Debian). I will have the extender and the HDHR, so I really don't need much in the way of drivers.

Are there any issues if I install SageTV on Debian and then decide to start again with a different distro? I just don't want to ruin the licensing trying to install the software again.

Thanks.

I don't think that you'll much issue switching between different flavours of linux as far as the licensing goes. You may encounter an issue where the Sage rejects your license if you install it too many times. This happened to a friend of mine. When this happens, you can contact sage support, and have them reset your licence.

As long as you stay in linux land you will be ok.... but if you decide to switch to windows, then your license is no good. Sage, for some reason, binds the license to an OS type and not to a machine.
