Im reading about this and I think I understand but would like someone to verify... Would I need a IR pick up at my tv location or do I use a Hauppauge remote to relay the signal to my HTPC w/Sagetv? Then the USB-UIRT would output/blast the IR command to STB or other devices? With the USB-UIRT can I just attached emmiters to each device rather then blasting the signal at my devices?

How could I get this setup to work with a Universal Remote MX-3000 with a MRF-350?

If you are using a mvp or hd extender as the frontend, then Sage will translate those remote codes and blast them throught your ir blaster (that's how I have it setup and it works ok)

I can't talk about the MX-3000 remote, but I use a Harmony, and I programmed it to be an HD extender remote, and it works fine.

USB-UIRT comes with one builtin emitter which can not be easily attached to one device. However on the back it has a mini-plug that you can connect up to 2 more emitters that can be attached to each device. You will need to provide your own emitters, I made my own from parts at radio shack. All emittors can be individually controlled which is a great thing if you are trying to control 2 STBs of the same make.

Thank you both!!! Good news to me will work perfect with what I want to do.... The max amount of the same device is 3 per uirt right? That brings up another question can you use more then one uirt?

If they can't be configured to respond to different IR codes, then yes. If they can all use different IR sets, then you can control more.
