Reduce video buffer to play time ?

Hi all,

Does anyone know of a way to alter the amount of time the video buffer is filled before video gets played ?
I get very slow channel change in SageTV (but not in MCE or Mediaportal) and after some forum searching found a post mentioning editing sage.properties to change the line video/buffer_to_video_playing or something along those lines.. but my Sage.properties doesn't even have this line to start with!
The post was from over a year ago, so has this been removed from SageTV 6 ? (I have the latest Beta)

Thanks!

There is no buffer in Sage the way you are thinking. Live TV is a recording. It streams to the hard drive just like recorded TV. You need to tell us what remote and ir receiver or how you are changing channels and we may be able to help you with the slow channel change.

Thanks for your reply.
I realise it's not a buffer as such, but presumed that Sage waits for x seconds of starting the tuner/recording before actually playing the stream.. since there is such a delay.

I am using an MCE remote to control my DVB-T (BDA) tuners through Sage, I have been using the tuners with Vista MCE and Mediaportal without any delays (around 1 second) when changing channels.
In Sage switching channel via CH+/- or entering a channel number (and also the inital starting of TV) takes around 7-8 Seconds.

If you have any tips on what I can tweak I'd love to hear them!

Thanks

It doesn't sound like the problem is with the timing of the remote or the ir receiver but your actual tuners. Other than making sure you're running the latest drivers for them I would contact Sage support with the issue. They may be able to help.
