HD Recording Corrupted
I just installed Sage on a brand new PC with Vista Home Premium (with UAC disabled) and two WinTV-HVR-1600 tuners.
I setup some test recordings and favorites and a strange thing happenens at times when recording HD channels: The show si fully recorded but when you go to play it back Sage plays the last few seconds of it and then pops up the customary end-of-show message on whether you want to delete it. It is like you already watched the whole show. If you go and try to rewind the show back you can't and it will just play the same last segment and end. Standard Def channels record with no problem. I was able to somehow recover one show using MPEG-VCR having it fix GOP timecode and seize errors as well as audio PTS errors. However even that did not result in a smooth playback. I am wondering on how to solve this problem. I uninstalled and installed anew the latest official Hauppage drivers as well as Sage and the Video Sources within Sage not to avail. I also installed the latest Sage Beta however that did not even play back HD channels at all (meaning live viewing did not work at all). Any clues? |

I've had the exact same thing happen to me several times. I've also had recordings that play back ok unless you try to skip around, and then the skips are very strange, landing you somewhere other that where you expect. I'm going to start a thread about that right now.

Is this QAM or OTA? What is your signal strength? Sage is unforgiving of low signal strength (compared to VLC or MPC) and will error out or skip on marginal files. Did you try these files in VLC or MPC? I picked up a $32 +10db amp at Radio Shack that works well.

Signal strength on my end is very good on these over-the-air channels and they do record all the way to the end, infact Sage correctly reports the full length of the clip (30 mins or 60 mins) however when you go to play it most of the times it shows 99% of the clip as being watched and starts playing at the end, but you can't rewind. This morning test instead did what EdwardATeller indicated: It starts playing at the top but can't skip anything.
