Which IR receiver works best
I am currently evaluating SageTV and I am liking it so far. My last challenge is to get it to work with my Logitec Harmony remote. What is the best IR receiver to use? I have 3 Hauppauge HVR-950 tuners, so none of those come with an IR port. I am ok with adding a 4th tuner if there is one that comes with a good IR receiver.
Thanks, --Paul |

On my PC client I am using the MCE receiver. Otherwise I am sure you'll hear a number of recommendations for the USB-UIRT.

While digging around this morning, I came across an old Hauppauge PVR-150. Is it even worth trying to get this to work so I can use the remote function with my Harmony remote, or will it not provide the functionality that the USB-UIRT will give me? I am not worried about the blaster capability, just the ability to receive.
Thanks again, --Paul |

Not worth trying if you have other Hauppauge tuners installed. Seacrh the forums-always seems to be an issue. You can pick up a MCE receiver and remote for less than $35 usually. USB-UIRT goes for $50. Both are about the best as suggested by bcjenkins.

Any particular MCE receiver/remote I should be looking at? There is a Fry's Electronics down the road from me and they have a few, but they all seem to be customized for Vista only. One of them is made by SIIG. I don't really care about the remote since I will be using my Logitech, so really gets down to which receiver I want to go with.

I ordered the USB-UIRT. Thanks for the feedback.
