Sky Movies Via DVB-S Card

Hi,

I've been using a Technotrend 3200 DVB-S2 card with an Oasis2 CAM and Sky card for a while now, and it's been working fine to pickup free to air and encrypted Sky channels that were part of my basic subscription.

I've just upgraded my Sky subscription to get all channels (except HD), I can view Sky Sports channels via SageTV but it won't pickup Sky movie channels (Premiere, Action, Comedy etc.).

I've also tried with DVBViewer, still no luck. The TV app that comes with the Technotrend card can display the channels ok though.

Is anyone able to pickup Sky movie channels in SageTV with a DVB-S/S2 card ?, what setup are you using ?.

Thanks

Gary

I use the same card with a TREX CAM and have no problems.

When you say you can't pick the movie channels, what do you mean?

That a scan doesn't find them or that you can't tune them?

Have you tried rescanning?

Hi,

When I did a scan it picked up all the channels ok, I just can't tune the movie channels. I also tried with DVBViewer and that couldn't tune in either.

Sounds like I might need to invest in a different CAM.

Thanks

Since you say that in the TT Media Center TV app, the movie channels open, then the CAM is not your issue.

When was the last time you placed your card in your digibox?

Maybe you have to insert it there and live it in overnight to make sure that it gets the change to you sub.

When I upgraded the subscription a few days ago I had the card in the Sky box, left it in for a few hours and then was able to get sports and movies on the Sky box. I'm a bit baffled by it.

Did you need to do any setup with the T.Rex CAM, such as entering a box id ?. I've seen mentions about this for the Oasis CAM but can't find any info on how to do it.

Cheers

Ah yes of course. Forgot about that one. With the movies package you have to enter the digibox serial number in the CAM.

I am not sure about the OASIS cam. You could do it in the TT Media Centre app. Just open TT Media Center and tune a channel. On the left hand column of icons there should be one for the CAM that blinks red.

Just click on that and it should open a terminal window to the CAMs command line interface. There should be an option in there to enter the serial number you get from the digibox system info.

I checked the CAM menu from within the Technotrend app, can't find anywhere to put the box serial number. I've spent quite a lot of time this weekend looking for info on the Oasis CAM, but can't find anything out there.

I ordered a T.Rex CAM, programmer and card this morning, hopefully that will sort it.

Thanks

Gary

I have the exact same issue. I tend to suspect the Oasis CAM but only on the basis that others' seem to have it working with the T-Rex CAM.

I am still trying to get the EPG right with Stephanes XMLTV grabber before I start on this specific problem.

I've switched to using a T.Rex CAM now, that gave me an option to enter the Sky digibox serial number and now I can watch Sky Movie channels.

It's not perfect though, the CAM often crashes so timed recordings just end up with junk. Once it's crashed there doesn't seem to be a way to reset it without powering the PC off, or waiting for it to hibernate/restart. All encrypted channels on that tuner will be broken until the restart.
