SageTV suddenly stops receiving usb-uirt IR input

I posted a similar input problem here, but this time the problem is with my usb-uirt so I thought I'd post a dedicated thread for this issue.

Since posting my original question, I've switched away from using my usb-uirt with girder sending SageTV keypresses to using the usb-uirt with SageTV natively. This works great for the most part. Unfortunately, I've had two occassions where SageTV stops processing IR signals received from the usb-uirt. I'm not certain about the first time (a week ago) but this last time happened this morning. The SageTV machine was working fine when I went to bed last night but did not respond to IR this morning. The machine is an 'always on' machine. I tried exiting SageTV and then restarting but it still did not work. I went into Windows Device Manager and disabled then enabled the usb-uirt then restarted SageTV and everything started working again.

I was running the usb-uirt with girder setup for over a year without ever experiencing this problem. I'm running the latest SageTV beta and the usb-uirt is using the driver downloaded from their homepage.

As you can imagine, this is a real downer and any suggestions on debugging the problem is much appreciated.

Reroute your cabling away from sources of interference, HV power, power supplies and the like.

So you've experienced this problem as well and that is how you solved it or is this more of a general advice thing?
